“Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you” (Eph 4:32).
Outside of Christ we are still in our sin and in rebellion against God – hating one another and exalting self. In Christ, however, we have forgiveness. This is the good news of the gospel! Jesus has taken our sins – he has taken the judgment for each and every sin of his people. We have been forgiven by God because of what Jesus has done for us on the cross of Calvary. Thus, we are called to show and to extend such forgiveness to others. A forgiven heart extends forgiveness to others. An unrepentant and hard heart – a heart still calloused and in bondage to sin – is hard towards others. Dear Christian, may we reflect the kindness and forgiveness God has given to us to a dark and sinful world. And may God use such acts to soften the hearts of unbelievers and to open their eyes to the gospel!
